Overview
The Forwarding Feature in Stiply allows a signer to pass a sign request to another individual, enabling that person to sign instead. This is perfect for cases such as a purchaser needing a director’s signature, the original signer retains read-only access (CC).
1. What is forwarding?
Forwarding lets the current signer delegate signing responsibility to someone else by clicking the forward button in the signing session. The original signer remains on copy but cannot sign once forwarded.
2. When to use forwarding
- If the assigned signer cannot or should not sign themselves.
- When responsibilities shift, e.g. purchaser → director.
- Not intended for routine signing, only when signatory delegation is needed.
3. Benefits of using forwarding
- You ensure the new signer receives both signed documents and proof documents.
- Original signer will still receive copies of the document.
- Authentication carries over—e.g. if SMS is used, you can enter the new signer’s phone number and they’ll receive a verification code.
- More reliable than manually forwarding email, which can disrupt document distribution and authentication.
4. How to forward a sign request
- During signing, the signer clicks the Forward button in Stiply.
- The signer enters the new signer’s email address (and phone if using SMS authentication).
- The document is forwarded; the new signer completes the process.
- The original signer remains on CC and retains read-only access.
Important Notes
- Forward only if another person needs to sign, the original signer will no longer sign.
- Forwarding maintains existing authentication methods (e.g., SMS, iDIN).
- Proper document and proof distribution is guaranteed to both new and optional original signer.
